I want to know how many panels, the cost, where to get them, and how to install solar electricity just for my hot water heater. Thanks
Solar electricity just for hot water is inefficient and impractical. The way to do it is to use solar energy to heat the water directly.
Home Power magazine is a good place to learn about it. Some information is available free online. http://www.homepower.com/
It is easy to find information on do-it-yourself solar projects. Here is the first item that I found. http://builditsolar.com/

I have been researching installing my own panels for my radiant heat system. However,I found that ordering online and having someone local do it are two different things.
There are codes that have to be followed for indoor plumbing and outdoor placement of the panels.Mine would have to be installed on my roof. Not something I want to do as my roof is steep.Have a professional do it.It’s worth the extra bucks and would be much less aggravation.

Do you mean for a WATER HEATER ?
because if you already have hot water why heat it !
if the water intake is cold it is a WATER HEATER,one that heats up cold water into hot.
