How much does solar power cost?
like how much does it cost per joule or kilo joule??
im doing a project in science, but i can’t seem to find it anywhere…
joule is a unit of energy.
You need it per watt, unit of power. Reference has US$4-5 per watt for the panels, and for a complete installation about $8 to $12 per watt. This is the initial cost and installation costs.
reference:
The solar energy industry typically uses price per Watt Peak (Wp) as its primary unit of measurement. The prices for high power band (>125 watts) solar modules has dropped from around $27/Wp in 1982 to around $4/Wp today. Prices higher and lower than this are usually dependent upon the size of the order.
As a rule of thumb, the solar module represents 40-50% of the total installed cost of a "solar system". This percentage will vary according to the nature of the application. A complete solar system includes all the other components required to create a functioning system, whether it be to feed energy in to the grid or to be used in stand alone off-grid applications. In 2003, a residential solar system costs about $8,000-$12,000 per kWp installed.

solar power comes from the sun…so it’s free….however there is a set up cost. A wide variety of types and expenses

Good question! The answer depends a lot on where the solar array is installed.
For example, let’s say that a 4 kW array costs $25,000 to install. Over its 25-year life, that’s $1,000 a year. If the array produces 10,000 kWh per year, that’s 10 cents per kWh. [A kilowatt-hour, kWh is 3.6 megajoules.]
If that same $25,000 array is installed where it’s cloudy or there isn’t much sun year round, it may only produce 4,000 kWh per year, making the cost 25 cents per kWh over time.
